Immersed
Our theme for 2009 in the Student Ministry is focused on one word, immersed. The word comes from Peterson's Message in Psalm 139:7-12, where David reminds us that there is nowhere we can go to escape God, because "Oh, He even sees me in the dark! At night I am immersed in the light!"
Our goal will be to discover for ourselves what it means to immersed in God's Love, Presence, Word and Service. We will not be just dipping our toes in the water, so to speak, but jumping in and immersing ourselves in the lives He has created us for. So come join us this fall as we journey together through theme of being immersed in God!

6:00 pm: Youth Choir/Praise Band rehearsal

Fall Events
11/6 to 11/8: Fall Retreat at Spruce Pine, NC. The theme for the weekend is "Immersing Ourselves in God's Creation." We will be hiking down into the Linville Gorge area, and visiting the Linville Caverns on Saturday. Join us for an old-fashioned campfire, a time of retreat, and refreshing outdoor experiences! Bring hiking shoes and water bottle. Cost is $50 and includes lodging, transportation, and 4 meals. Money due 10/25.
11/8: No UMYF due to retreat.
11/14, 9:00 am to 3:00 pm: Renaissance Festival. Cost is $18 per person, unless you are 12 and under, then it is $7. Meet at the church at 9:00 am and return by 3:00 pm. Please RSVP by 11/9. Bring money for lunch! You will not be able to go if you do not RSVP! Email me at rsmith@sharonumc.org or call the church office. Permission slip is required.
11/15, 3:30 pm: Youth Council meeting.
11/20, 7:00 to 11:00 pm: Video Game Night. Bring your game systems and games and let's play! Hot dogs and drinks provided, you bring the snacks. Friends are more than welcome!
11/22 & 11/23: Turkey Trot Packet Stuffing. We benefit from stuffing race packets by earning money for mission projects, by getting involved in our community, and by getting tons of publicity for our church. Winter Events
12/1, 4:30 to 7:00 pm: Serving dinner for Room in the Inn.
12/20: Christmas party at Kerry's! Details coming soon . . .
12/21, 4:30 to 7:30 pm: Serving dinner at the Men's Shelter.
12/24: Christmas Eve Donut Giveaway! Youth are needed after each service to hand out boxes of donuts to people as they leave the church.
1/22 to 1/24: Middle School ski trip to Boone, NC.
2/19 to 2/21: Senior High ski trip to Winterplace Ski Resort in Ghent, WV.
